And So the Fun Begins!

Final project. Here we go.

I have officially reached the final project sprint at code school! It's hard to believe just how much I've learned in these nine weeks. When I think back to early August, I didn't know much more than how to create a basic HTML page with some plain black text on the screen. Now, I can confidently build a full-stack web app from scratch, using different databases!

We've had an overwhelming amount of information coming at us over the past two months, so it's nice to finally be at a point where I'm no longer feeling like I'm drinking from a firehose. I'm still learning, of course, but now I have a solid background knowledge to reference while I'm creating and debugging my site.

Speaking of my site, I'll share a little bit about it now, but keep an eye out for it on LinkedIn in about three weeks! I'm using a React front end with React Router. On the backend, I've chosen Django, along with Django Rest Framework and JWT for user authentication. When it comes to databases, I'm setting up one in PostgreSQL and also integrating two other APIs from third parties, one of which is AI-based.

As of day 1.5 of this sprint, I've already put in around 15 hours of work. It's astonishing how quickly time has flown by in the last couple of days. I feel like I just sat down at my computer 30 minutes ago, and yet here we are, almost at the end of the day.

These first two days have been a challenging mix of learning and small victories. Stepping back, I can see just how much effort has already gone into this project. The fact that I even know what to do on a somewhat specific scale is a testament to how far I've come. It's incredible to think about how much there is still to learn (and yes, I know you can never learn it all). However, I'm genuinely excited to continue learning through building, encountering failures, and discovering more along the way!
